we believe there needs to be
a festival of words
FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
a IRL festival that shows young people you CAN write for a living and how
A bit like Cannes but totally anti to everything Cannes Festival of Creativity is.

Not expensive.
​
Not elitist.
​
Fun. Accessible. Dirt cheap. By young people, for young people - ONLY. Crazy and unhinged; people can swear. Wear whatever the fuck. Drink. Dance.
​
Not FOCUSED ON advertising as a whole.
But just WRITING. Just words. Because in a world of fucking AI, this is one way to keep the industry alive. It deserves its own thing.
​
Now as a community focused on copywriting, OF COURSE we vouch for this career.
But we also think this festival needs to be broad.
​
It just needs to be a 'YOU CAN WRITE FOR A LIVING FESTIVAL.'
Showing young people they can write for a living in three main areas;

- copywriting
- journalism
- and creator (aka, writing and creating their own publication, magazine, newsletter or blog that BECOMES their life and business).​​​
​
too many young people are being turned away from writing because society, parents, and the education system are forcing STEM down their throats
​
because people are
worried about AI
​
This event is a big fuck
you to that
Because here's the truth - we young people are the next generation of leaders baby.
​
We- Word Tonic- for one ARE NOT SCARED ABOUT AI. We still believe and know that AI can never replace human creativity and there will always be brands that understand that - meaning there will always be work.
​
BUT.
​
BUT.
​
AI will affect the writing industry- but only if we let it.
​
You might think you're young and powerless, but we are the most powerful. Especially when we band together and show up - together.
​
We are the next generation of leaders.
All the old fucks saying 'AI is going to take your job,' or 'we'll just use AI to replace you,' can talk all they want. The truth is, one day we will be leading companies. We will be the 'seniors.' And we'll be the ones in positions of authority.
​
And we can start now.
​
If enough of us band together, if enough of us believe and fight for writing- for the idea and truth that WRITING FOR A LIVING IS POSSIBLE, if we create our own jobs - we can keep this industry alive, no matter how far AI goes.
​
Because we can change and influence policies. We can create our own jobs (hell, there's people out there writing their own newsletters and blogs and that's THEIR LIFE. They make enough from that to call it a career).
​
It is possible, but first we actually need to inspire and let young people know it is possible.
​
And this is what this festival of writing would be all about. Inspiring. Showing a path forward. Shaping the future of the industry. And doing it in a classic Word Tonic way; fucking nuts because that's funny and why do you need to be fucking boring?

but this festival would be a big undertaking. we want to aim big. we want it to eventually become the next Cannes but for young people and x10 crazy.
Which means we need a sponsor.
​
A brand (or someone?) to sponsor the actual festival event space, food + drinks.
​
We can easily find speakers.
But in order to keep the cost of the event tickets low
we need a sponsor for the event space.
​
We are actively trying to find a sponsor but the more we can show proof of concept - proof that this is something young people would want - the easier it will be for us.
